These are software applications that run on the Internet which provide a range of services from photo sharing and social media, to constituent relationship management systems. Web applications can be installed and run on an organization's Web hosting server, or they can be provided as a "hosted application" service by a third-party company who grants organizations access to use the software on the company's server via an individual paid subscription account — usually paid per month per "seat".
